June is bustin’ out all over!

May 31st, 2013

FRIENDS: Please tune in to your radio (or computer) THIS SUNDAY (JUNE 2) to hear us live on WMSC 90.3 RADIO from 7:30 – 8:30pm EST. (This is in upper New Jersey but you can tune in worldwide.) We’ll be appearing on Joltin Joe’s show “Radio Nowhere,” kvetching and performing on-air! If you don’t live in the broadcast area you can stream it here: http://wmscradio.com/

Then, NEXT FRIDAY (JUNE 7th), we’re ecstatic to be performing at Montclair NJ’s OUTPOST IN THE BURBS. Wow, a gorgeous venue…it has been home to such venerable talent as Lisa Hannigan, Marty Balin, Joan Osborne, J.D. Souther, Little Feat and Marshall Crenshaw! That’s right, we’ll be dotting all our i’s and crossing all our t’s for this one! It may seem that we brag up a lot of the bands we share bills with, but this time, we mean it…there are two amazing acts in the lineup with us, The Jammin Divas and Tall Heights. This will be an awesome evening! Won’t you please join us? (FYI…Advance tix are $5 cheaper then door tix! Get them here: http://www.outpostintheburbs.org/index.html)

If you can’t make Friday’s show in NJ, the very next day, on SATURDAY (JUNE 8th), we’re honored to be sharing a bill with our friends Spuyten Duyvil up in Yonkers at 7:30. This band is so much fun…a potpourri of excellent players and singers who have been wowing the festival and folk world over the last couple of years. They’re hosting a benefit concert at URBAN H20 (the Beczak Center), and beyond the fact that the show is for a good cause, ten dollar suggested admission also gets you free beer! Huzzah! For more info go here: http://urbanh2o.org/

In closing, please join us in congratulating Bobtown’s own Karen Dahlstrom, who was selected as one of KERRVILLE FOLK FESTIVAL’s New Folk finalists for her excellent solo EP, Gem State! We couldn’t be more proud of her!

3/12 – “On Your Radar” with John Platt

March 5th, 2013

We’re so pleased to be featured at this month’s On Your Radar show, hosted by WFUV’s John Platt. We’ve been to the show as audience members and have been blown away by the acts we’ve seen, so we’re extremely honored to be invited to play. It’s the first On Your Radar in the new location, Rockwood Music Hall, and we’ll be sharing the stage with Carolyn Waters and Jon Brooks. The show starts at 7p at Rockwood Stage 2 on Tuesday, 3/12. Come and join us!

If you can’t make it to the show, we’ll be guests on John’s radio show, “Sunday Breakfast” this Sunday, 3/10. Listen in at 10am on WFUV 90.7 (or check WFUV.org for streaming/archives). We hear that the show will also feature an up-and-coming singer-songwriter by the name of James Taylor. We think he’ll be big someday.

This Friday! Bobtown @ 92YTribeca

February 11th, 2013

THIS FRIDAY, the day after Valentines Day, we’re looking forward to performing at the 92ND STREET Y in Tribeca (main stage)! It’s a tremendous venue and we are honored to have been invited. We’ll be starting at 7:30 SHARP. Directly after us will be the incredible Erin Hill & Her Psychedelic Harp Band, and the evening ends with the uber-talented Deni Bonet taking the stage to launch her latest album! For anyone who’s not familiar with this venue, just because it’s called “the Y” doesn’t mean that we’ll be performing in the showers and locker rooms, oh no, the 92 Street Y Tribeca is a cultural center featuring a state-of-the-art performance space. Note: if you buy your tickets in advance there’s a pretty good discount! Here’s the link: TIX

Let’s Party!

September 14th, 2012

It’s been an awesome few months since we kicked out our little Kickstarter campaign. With your help — and help from our friends, family and random strangers who took a shine to us — we made our goal and put together a pretty sweet album. Now it’s time to celebrate!

Come join us at Union Hall on Friday, Sept. 21st, as we celebrate the release of “Trouble I Wrought”! Joining us for the evening is Olivia Arrow, who will be gracing us with a short set before Kamara Thomas & The Ghost Gamblers take the stage. At 9pm, we’ll play songs from the new album with special guests Philippa Thompson (M. Shanghai String Band) on violin, fiddle & saw; Mike Nolan (Erin Hill & Her Psychedelic Harp Band) on pedal steel guitar; Charlie Shaw (Alex Battle’s Whiskey Rebellion) on drums; and Dock Oscar (Dock Oscar & The Ambassadors of Love) on jaw harp. At 10, Alana Amram & the Rough Gems will wrap up the evening. Holy crap, what a show, right?

Since releasing the album a month ago, the album’s been played all over the US, Australia and Europe. (Speaking of Europe, if you’re traveling on Lufthansa Airlines between November & December be sure and listen for our song “One Public Enemy” on their Americana channel!) But the icing on the cake is that our humble little independent folk album debuted at #17 on Cashbox Magazine’s Roots Music Report’s Folk Top 50 for August! CAN WE GET A “YEEHAW”?

Or, save up all your yeehaws and let ‘em go on the 21st. YEEHAW!
