Greetings, dear friends!
Today, we launched a new Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for our new album, A History of Ghosts. We have some great new tunes that we can’t wait to share, but we could use your help to make it all happen.
Our goal to raise at least $10,000 over the next 30 days to help cover recording, production, manufacturing and promotional costs. If you’d like to help, you can pre-order the album or make a pledge on our Kickstarter project page. You’ll get some nifty rewards and, of course, our undying gratitude!

We’ve been hunkering down and working on our new material, but we’re excited to be playing some fantastic shows this summer! In coming months, you can catch us in Brooklyn, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey — including a new house concert series in Jersey City — and we’re especially excited to be headlining two phenomenal festivals this summer:
7/19 – 49th Annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival 2014
Chapin Rainbow Stage, Heckscher Park – Huntington, NY
Presented by the Town of Huntington – Produced by the Huntington Arts Council, Inc.
9/5 – CT Folk Festival
Edgerton Park – New Haven, CT
Soon, we’ll be launching a new Kickstarter campaign to help fund our 3rd album, titled “A History of Ghosts”. We’ll send updates on fundraising and tease new material here and on our various social media channels. The new songs are shaping up and we can’t wait to share them with you!
We don’t mind saying that 2013 was a pretty great year for us. We played some amazing gigs, heard our music played around the world, made our first big festival appearance, and made tons of new friends along the way. Not too shabby.
Going into 2014, you might notice that our performance schedule is a bit…light. That’s because we’re busy working on material for a BRAND NEW ALBUM! Yep, we’re going back into the studio this year, so keep checking back for album updates and song “teases”.
If you want to see Bobtown live, fret not. On Friday, January 31st, we (along with the amazing Marci Geller) will be helping our friends Scott Wolfson and Other Heroes celebrate the release of their brand new CD. We’ll be upstairs in the Map Room at The Bowery Electric, starting at 7pm. It’ll be quite a PARTY!!
Last Sunday, we had the great honor of kicking off the new season of First Acoustics in Brooklyn Heights. It’s an amazing concert series, run by some wonderfully nice people. If you’re in the area, you should definitely check out some of the stellar acts on their schedule this season. Thanks so much to Coco, Bruce, and all the volunteers and music-lovers who gave us such a warm welcome!
We are also really excited about our cover story in this month’s Acoustic Live! magazine. I mean, look at this cover! Thanks to Richard for featuring us and giving us so much support. We are truly grateful.
We’ve got two more great shows coming up! This Saturday, we’ll be up in Phoenicia, NY, playing at the Empire State Railway Museum for Flying Cat Concerts. All aboard!
Our next NYC show will be on October 17th at Music on 4, an amazing house concert series in Manhattan that hosts intimate shows with touring acts as well as local artists. We’re delighted and honored to be a part of this series.
(Special thanks to Gordon Nash for the pics and for helping us with all things merch!)
Hi friends, it’s Falcon Ridge time! We consider it such an honor that we were selected to play in the Emerging Artists Showcase at this venerable festival. We’ll be on the main stage the first day–this Friday, August 1st–around 3:00pm. The audience votes on its 3 favorite emerging artists (out of 24), the favorites then get to return the following year! Wish us luck, and if you’re attending, please be sure and come up and say hello to us.
Here’s a little interview we did recently discussing the festival, the origins of Bobtown’s name and the genesis of the band:

And below is our schedule for the entire festival weekend. See you @ Falcon Ridge!
11:00pm – Budgiedome (pre-fest performance for the earlybird campers)
2:45pm – Acoustic Live! Tent on the Midway
12:45am – Budgiedome
Who has 10 thumbs and is playing the Emerging Artist Showcase at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival? THIS BAND! Yep, we’re completely honored and totally excited to join the party in Hillsdale, NY this August. It’s going to be a blast!
But first, you can catch us Wednesday, July 10th on the village green in Southold, NY as part of their Summer Concert Series. Put on your Nantucket reds and join us for some mid-week summer fun on the beautiful North Fork of Long Island!
FRIENDS: Please tune in to your radio (or computer) THIS SUNDAY (JUNE 2) to hear us live on WMSC 90.3 RADIO from 7:30 – 8:30pm EST. (This is in upper New Jersey but you can tune in worldwide.) We’ll be appearing on Joltin Joe’s show “Radio Nowhere,” kvetching and performing on-air! If you don’t live in the broadcast area you can stream it here: http://wmscradio.com/
Then, NEXT FRIDAY (JUNE 7th), we’re ecstatic to be performing at Montclair NJ’s OUTPOST IN THE BURBS. Wow, a gorgeous venue…it has been home to such venerable talent as Lisa Hannigan, Marty Balin, Joan Osborne, J.D. Souther, Little Feat and Marshall Crenshaw! That’s right, we’ll be dotting all our i’s and crossing all our t’s for this one! It may seem that we brag up a lot of the bands we share bills with, but this time, we mean it…there are two amazing acts in the lineup with us, The Jammin Divas and Tall Heights. This will be an awesome evening! Won’t you please join us? (FYI…Advance tix are $5 cheaper then door tix! Get them here: http://www.outpostintheburbs.org/index.html)
If you can’t make Friday’s show in NJ, the very next day, on SATURDAY (JUNE 8th), we’re honored to be sharing a bill with our friends Spuyten Duyvil up in Yonkers at 7:30. This band is so much fun…a potpourri of excellent players and singers who have been wowing the festival and folk world over the last couple of years. They’re hosting a benefit concert at URBAN H20 (the Beczak Center), and beyond the fact that the show is for a good cause, ten dollar suggested admission also gets you free beer! Huzzah! For more info go here: http://urbanh2o.org/
In closing, please join us in congratulating Bobtown’s own Karen Dahlstrom, who was selected as one of KERRVILLE FOLK FESTIVAL’s New Folk finalists for her excellent solo EP, Gem State! We couldn’t be more proud of her!
Hey there! Do you like funk? How about folk? How about both? (We do, too!) This weekend, we’re pleased to be part of the Folk-2-Funk Festival in lovely Long Beach, NY.
Bobtown helps kick off the festival weekend on Friday, 4/12 at the Long Beach Public Library. No shushing here. We’ll be loud and proud at around 8:30pm, after Danny Kean & Donny Celenza.
Also performing this weekend are 42nd and Nelson, Miles to Dayton, David Pleasant Trio, and Pamela Lewis, John Hurley & Friends. Get on the LIRR and meet us there Friday night!
